True

I used to know who I was.

I was the girl who was going to be a writer.
The curious girl, who sang to the moon,
Believed that love conquered all,
And laughed out loud with her heart on her sleeve.

I forgot who I was.

Somewhere I lost my bearings,
Confused by the girl I saw reflected in your eyes.
I thought she was me.
She was not.

And now, the reflection shattered,
Illusion fades.
The ground shifts beneath my feet - who am I?

I know who I am.

I am the woman who writes.
The curious woman, who sings to the moon,
Believes that love conquers all,
And laughs out loud with her heart on her sleeve.

  3. Glad you're you! And... a fantastic knitter of scarfs, sculptor of little goddesses and many many other thingies.

Let us know if you find a way to stay you when there's a bloke on the scene. Seems like we all loose ourselves when that happens, and what a trawl back to self.

  7. This is wonderful, thanks Moonroot. We all lose ourselves at times- maybe we need challenges to strengthen the person that we really are.

  12. Thanks for all the kind words, everyone!

The poem isn't only about T ( I have lost myself in other eyes!), but obviously I am currently aware of having got particularly lost there...

And yes, that is a photo of me. Finally sure enough of myself to post an undisguised image of me on here. That must be progress too.
